Pan's Labyrinth was fantastic! I really liked it. It was pretty violent and the fairytale monsters were a bit freaky, but it was an interesting story. All in Spanish, but very easy to follow the story line. I definitely recommend it!
We also saw Volver a few days later. This movie was also in Spanish, but I found it not as easy to follow the story as "Pan's". Personally, I'm not sure Penelope Cruz's performance was Oscar-worthy, but then again, what do I know?! It was entertaining, but I did not leave the theatre remembering much about it...

Everyone I know (female) watches Grey's (I think)
Grease is the Word
I know this is cheesy, but I have really gotten in to the new reality show on NBC called "Grease! You're the One that I Want!" I watch it every Sunday. I was REALLY in to the movie when I was about 6 - 8 years old, so I guess it brings back some old memories. Also, some of the people auditioning are really funny. It's fun to watch, even if it is cheesy.

Pan's Labyrinth
Bill and I are going to see Pan's Labyrinth this Tuesday night. It's in Spanish, so subtitles will be interesting. After a while I don't even realize I'm reading. Anyway, this movie is getting rave reviews and will probably be nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards. I'll let you know what I think.

Sloan @ 4 months
Sloan is growing so fast! He was 4 months old December 19th. He now eating rice cereal twice a day in addition to formula. I'll start him on green and yellow vegetables in a couple of weeks. He's a good baby. Really only cries if something is bothering him or he is hungry. He's already had 2 ear infections - poor thing. He may need to have ear tubes at some point.

Bryce and Sloan
Here is a picture of Bryce meeting his brother Sloan for the first time...Interesting fact: Sloan was born on Bryce's 4th birthday! They are exactly 4 years apart. How often does that happen?
Fortunately, we had Bryce's birthday party the Saturday before and only because "My Gym" was booked on the 19th. Funny how it all worked out.
Bryce is very excited that he's now a big brother and asks lots of questions about Sloan.

Happy Easter!
It has been ages since I have posted on our blog. (I'm not even sure anyone even reads it anymore) I meant to post sooner, but so much is going on right now. On Jan. 1st, we found out we are expecting our 2nd! My due date is Sept 10. I'll have the big ultrasound that could possibly determine the sex of the baby in about a week and 1/2. Also, we are selling our house in town and moving to the 'burbs. Gotta have more space!Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend and enjoyed beautiful Spring weather!

'Jump the Couch' is the Slang of the Year

NEW YORK, Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- When Tom Cruise celebrated his new-found love by cavorting on Oprah's sofa like a deranged monkey, he did more than just become fodder for late-night comedians. He also unwittingly spawned a new phrase -- "jump the couch," meaning "to exhibit strange or frenetic behavior." After scouring the soft white underbelly of the English language, from bathroom walls to the Internet, the editors of the Historical Dictionary of American Slang have chosen "jump the couch" as the Slang of the Year for 2005.
"Jump the couch" began popping up just a few weeks after Cruise excitedly professed his love for new flame Katie Holmes by leaping onto the guest couch during the May 23, 2005 Oprah Winfrey Show. The phrase has since appeared in The New York Times, The Dallas Morning News, and innumerable blogs around the world.
The term builds on the older slang term "jump the shark," meaning, "to diminish in quality; to outlast public interest or popular support." To "jump the shark" stems from an episode of the 70s TV show Happy Days, in which uber-cool Fonzie flies over a shark on water-skis.
"A new slang term was obviously needed to describe this behavior. Jumping up and down on Oprah's couch, in front of millions, is truly bizarre," noted Grant Barrett, project editor of the Historical Dictionary of American Slang.

"Memoirs of a Geisha"

So, Bill and I saw "Memoirs of a Geisha" over the Christmas holiday. It was entertaining, but not fabulous. I was expecting more I guess. I thought it was about 20 minutes too long. The scenery was beautiful, but something was missing. I just didn't connect with any of the characters.
Oh well - it was good to get out and about.

Christmas thief steals 'Nun Bun'

A cinnamon bun that bears a striking likeness to late Catholic nun Mother Teresa was stolen from a Nashville coffeehouse on Christmas Day.
The owner arrived to find that the famous flaky pastry had vanished from the shop in Nashville, Tennessee.
Bob Bernstein said he thought the culprit was angry over the display.
The "Nun Bun" has drawn tourists since it was preserved and put in a glass case at the shop, where it was discovered by a customer in 1996.
The bun became international news following the find in the folds of its pastry.
