"Memoirs of a Geisha"

So, Bill and I saw "Memoirs of a Geisha" over the Christmas holiday. It was entertaining, but not fabulous. I was expecting more I guess. I thought it was about 20 minutes too long. The scenery was beautiful, but something was missing. I just didn't connect with any of the characters.

Oh well - it was good to get out and about.

Bryce's Hat is Almost Bigger than him

Here's a picture of Bryce wearing his favorite Santa hat. He was really into Christmas this year (especially the opening gifts part).

Christmas thief steals 'Nun Bun'

A cinnamon bun that bears a striking likeness to late Catholic nun Mother Teresa was stolen from a Nashville coffeehouse on Christmas Day.

The owner arrived to find that the famous flaky pastry had vanished from the shop in Nashville, Tennessee.
Bob Bernstein said he thought the culprit was angry over the display.
The "Nun Bun" has drawn tourists since it was preserved and put in a glass case at the shop, where it was discovered by a customer in 1996.
The bun became international news following the find in the folds of its pastry.

New Picture!

Another new picture...check out the gleam in his eyes...

Bryce's Class Picture

Take a look at Bryce's class picture. It was taken in mid-September. (These pictures are always fun to look at when you are a grown up).

Bryce has a sweet smile. This is how I always think of him.

'Oy Vey' Traffic Sign Goes Up in Brooklyn

"Oy vey," Markowitz said, is an original Jewish "expression of dismay or hurt."
"The beauty is, every ethnic group knows it," he said, and motorists seeing it know it means "Dear me, I'm so sad you're leaving."

Late August trip to Louisville

In late August we took a little family trip to Louisville, Kentucky, just for fun. Here's couple of photos from the trip.

How it all began...

So I've spent the past hour or so reading different blogs. It's amazing the kind of personal stuff people write about! Anyway, I was sitting here thinking about how Bryce is almost 3 years old (August 19). I looked back as some old pictures from when he was born. I had a rough time and was in the hospital for 7 or so days (pre-eclampsia), but thankfully Bryce was born healthy. In the picture above he is about 2 hours old. I would attach a picture of me with me, but I wasn't looking so good. He is my precious boy.

The Winner of the Tour de France...

is Bryce! Who knew? Isn't he a little young?

Bryce is wearing his cool new helmet and the medal he won at school in a bicycle race.

I found this picture on the internet...

of my friend Rebecca, her husband Cedric, and their daughter Celia. They bought a Harley a couple of months back and their picture was posted on a Harley web site. Cool!

CHARLIE...

I can't wait to see "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"! I really like the campy one from the early 70's, so I'm sure this version by Tim Burton will be so much better. Maybe I'll go with my friend Jane this next week or so.

Steve and Katie

Here is a picture of my brother Steve and his friend Katie. I'm not sure if they are currently dating, so that's why she is called "friend". Her dad is a famous songwriter, Bob McDill, here in Nashville. She invited us to a cool croquet party back in May. Bryce loved it!

Mommy and Bryce

This is a picture of Bryce and me back in May 2005. Uncle Steve invited us to his girlfriend Katie's croquet party and we took a moment for this cute shot.

Happy Independence Day!

Bill's sister Trilby came to Nashville from Chapel Hill, NC this weekend. We had a great time. We went to the zoo, shot fireworks and all of us played with Bryce's new "stomp rocket". Lots of fun.

Our Furry Children

Our cats - Phritz on the left, Phranklin on the right.

Look at this hair!

This is a picture of Phil Spector at his murder trial last month. Do you think he's tying to make some kind of statement? As in "I'm crazy"?

Can you believe he's almost three?

I love this picture of Bryce. It was taken by one of his teachers at school after playing in the sprinklers a couple of weeks ago.

Beach Memories

Bill and I went to St. John/US Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands when I was pregnant with Bryce in May 2002. I wish I were there right now with my toes in the warm sand and water lapping at my feet. A breeze blows my hair away from my neck. Not a care in the world...things seem so simple when you are on a beautiful island. I think that's why I like the beach so much. It's certainly not because that's where I get my savage tan!

Bryce at Graceland

I've been looking through some old pictures and I found this one of Bryce at Graceland back in Nov. 2002. (See the flame. It burns constantly...) Bryce's 1st trip!

Sweet Baby Bryce and Trilby

Here's a picture of Bryce and his Aunt Trilby back in 2003. This is such a sweet picture. Bryce loves his Aunt Trilby!

Welcome! Our 1st Post...

WELCOME to Alford Antics, the Alford family blog! We thought it would be fun to have a place where we can share our thoughts and photos with friends and family. (The above photo is of me, Bill, and Bryce).

Birthdays and other Stuff

Here is a nice picture of Shirley and Bill back in May. We had a nice visit in Charlotte, NC to celebrate Shirley's birthday, Bill's birthday, and Nicole and Bill's anniversary.
